A Talascend client is seeking a Field Service Engineer for a direct hire role based in Salem, OH.
POSITION: Field Service Engineer
POSITION MANAGER: Field Service Manager
70% International and/or domestic travel required
Salaried, Exempt position
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Learn and follow all ISO processes and procedures
Construction Preparation
Read contact and understand John Cockerill scope of responsibilities for the
project
Collect all drawings and documentation in preparation for on-site services
Review layout and detailed drawings for preparation
Review installation manual for proper sequencing of the construction
Responsible to ensure the installation manual is correct and complete
Submit corrections to the installation manuals to professional writer
Develop sequences and planning for construction
Review and verify components
Verify mechanical devices for movement and function
Maintain an active punch list
Fill out all applicable documentation. SDR, FIN, Time sheets and send to home
office as required
Verify and comment on piping components, locations, and proper assembly
Verify and comment on cable trays and wiring runs TC, signal, low and high
voltage
Review progress of erection, contractors, schedule
Advise contractors on proper assembly/construction sequences
Hold regular construction progress meetings with customer for planning and
tracking
Verify and comment on instrumentation component locations and proper
assembly
Construction kick off meetings, conduct site team meetings update planning
daily
Commissioning Preparation
Read and understand scope of responsibilities for commissioning phase
Collect all drawings and documentation in preparation for on-site services
Review commissioning check list for accuracy and compile supporting
documentation
Responsible to ensure the commissioning check list is correct and complete
Submit corrections made to the commissioning check list to professional
writer
Develop sequences and planning for commissioning
Ability to make changes and correction to PLC programming and HMI
interface pages
Ability to develop PLC programs for process control
Ability to develop HMI pages and interfaces
Ability to design and develop electrical control devices and cabinets for
process control
Commissioning On-site
Review and verify components during OPI
Verify mechanical devices for movement and function under power
Hold regular commissioning progress meetings with customer for planning and
tracking
Review progress of commissioning contractors (combustion, program
integrator, specialist)
Advise contractors of desired function responsibilities
Verify and comment on instrumentation component locations and proper
assembly
Verify and comment on piping components, locations and proper assembly
Verify and comment on cable trays and wiring runs TC, signal, low and high
voltage termination
Perform cold function test and verifications of devices
Ability to trouble shoot malfunctioning equipment and processes
Verify and conduct I/O check out
Set up remote mounted devices/components for operation
Ability to make changes and correction to PLC programming and HMI
interfaces pages
Ability to develop PLC programs for process control; develop HMI pages and
interfaces
Ability to design and develop electrical control devices and cabinets for
process control
Conduct on-site team meetings update planning daily; commissioning kick off  
Start up equpment for hot function test
Knowledge and application of protective atmospheres and thermal processes
Knowledge and ability to perform tuning and optimization of PLC
programming
Requirements
Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent negotiation and commercial spirit
Ability to work with accounting technologies (SAP, internet, etc.)
Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, AutoCAD viewers
Excellent mathematical skills: ability to compute rate, ratio and percent
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information with discretion and professionalism
Excellent problem-solving skills
Customer service skills
Excellent communication skills
Understand basic logic processes
Maintain and update work progress schedule

Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering OR Associate’s Degree with 3 years of experience.
Work Environment
Usual office working conditions, free of disagreeable elements
Light physical effort required
Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend, climb ladders, climb stairs and move about the facility
70% International and/or domestic travel required
Protective eye wear and gloves when entering the shop; protective eye wear, steel toe or metatarsal boots when required at customer sites and Shops, site specific safety policies and PPE required
OSHA 10 Certification
