Title: Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician

Key Project Requirements:
• 5+ years of IC&E experience in power generation required; solar experience is a plus.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting, testing, and calibrating instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment.
• Ability to inspect, repair, and install motors, transformers, control equipment, and wiring systems.
• Knowledge of LOTO procedures, arc flash safety, and hazardous energy control.
Job Summary:
PIC Group is seeking an experienced Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Technician for a solar thermal power station in California. The IC&E Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical components to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role involves diagnostic testing, calibration, and performance optimization while adhering to industry safety and compliance standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Inspect, Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Inspect, repair, install, and remove motors, transformers, generators, switches, control equipment, electrical signal systems, and storage batteries.
• Instrumentation & Control Systems: Measure, test, and maintain the performance of plant control systems, ensuring reliability and compliance with operational standards.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Calibrate, test, and diagnose issues with instrumentation and electrical systems, maintaining detailed logs and drawings.
• PLC & Relay Troubleshooting: Identify faults in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), relays, and electrical distribution systems.
• High Voltage Work: Safely operate and maintain electrical equipment with voltage ratings up to 4,160 volts.
Job Requirements:
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of power plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical maintenance.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Hands-on experience with PLCs, relays, and electrical distribution systems up to 4,160V.
• Safety & Compliance: Familiarity with LOTO procedures, arc flash protection, and hazardous energy control.
• Reading & Interpretation: Ability to analyze technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Team Collaboration & Independence: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Work in confined spaces, heights, and extreme temperatures as required in a power plant.
• Must wear and properly use PPE, including arc flash gear, gloves, and safety glasses.
Education / Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required
• 5+ years of industry experience in IC&E maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Specialized training in power plant instrumentation, controls, or electrical maintenance.
• Completion of an Instrument Technician Program, Military Training, or Technical Trade School preferred
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $55 - $65.
