Top Required Skills
1) Knowledge of engineering principles for civil, mechanical, electrical and structural projects

2) Microsoft Office Suite, Primavera and Microsoft Project and be proficient in using these products.

3) Skill in developing, implementing and managing new construction and/or improvement projects that enhance the overall reliability, efficiency and safety of the facility

4) Must have good planning, organization and project-management skills


Strong verbal and written communications skills including interpersonal, facilitation and presentation
Strong team-building and customer-relations skills

High Level Project Overview:

Provide onsite support during the construction of Dominion Energy’s (DE’s) Operations Base (Ops Base) located at Fairwinds Landing in Norfolk, VA. This development will include wharf improvements and the construction of a 48,000 square foot building (Ops Base – Marine Coordination Center and Warehouse). The Ops Base will serve as the operations and maintenance center for the CVOW project.

Responsibilities:

Conduct detailed reviews of contract documents, RFIs, pay requisitions, invoices including subcontractors, and change order requests.
Attend and participate in weekly construction, safety, and schedule meetings as well as attending the monthly owners’ meetings.
Respond to technical and commercial inquiries related to Ops Base construction as well as future operations of this operations port.
Collaborate with contractors on HSE matters;
Prepare weekly reports.
Conduct detailed reviews of the construction schedule to monitor progress.
Prepare detailed monthly cost variance analysis reports comparing costs incurred to the project budget.

Qualifications/Experience:
• Ability to manage multiple projects covering a large geographic area with multiple locations; proficiently understand and apply engineering principles for project completion

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; contribute to a positive work environment

• Ability to be courteous to co-workers and customers

• Ability to follow directions from supervisors; and refrain from abusive or profane language and behavior in the workplace
• Familiarity with OSHA industrial safe work practices.

Preferred Years of Experience:
• Minimum ten years' experience in project engineering, construction project management and/or construction cost estimating.

Education:
• Bachelor's degree preferred, construction management, mechanical or civil engineering. Preferred, but not required; looking for strong project management skills.
