Job Overview:
Edgewater is seeking to hire an Emergency Management Specialist to perform duties that support a comprehensive, effective, and compliant emergency management program within a team of technical professionals. The position reports to the Edgewater Emergency Management Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
� The primary responsibility for the position is all-hazards and technical planning which includes preparation and maintenance of site-wide, All-Hazard Surveys, Emergency Planning Hazard Assessments (EPHAs), and Emergency Actions Levels for various clients in the DOE complex.
� The position is also responsible for providing expertise and guidance in the area of consequence assessment and must be familiar with emergency response consequence assessment techniques to establish estimates of onsite and offsite consequences of actual or potential releases of hazardous materials. In addition, this position will develop Plume Modeling casebooks and maintain preloaded scenarios for Operational Emergency analyzed in the EPHAs for various DOE facilities.
� This position is required to maintain procedures and conduct annual self-assessments relating to the Technical Planning Basis and Consequence Assessment program elements, as necessary.
� Additional responsibilities as an Emergency Management Team member include supporting and assisting with Training, Emergency Response Organization, Offsite Response Interfaces, Emergency Facilities and Equipment, Emergency Public Information, Readiness Assurance, Drills and Exercises, and Continuity of Operations.
� Build and maintain relationships with counterparts, Laboratory leadership, oversight organizations, and the local, regional, national emergency management community as necessary.
Basic Requirements:
� A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Emergency Management, Engineering, or other relevant degree.
� A minimum of two years of recent experience in performing technical planning basis activities and consequence assessment tasks related to development of All-Hazard Surveys and Emergency Planning Hazard Assessments (EPHAs).
� Experience with various dispersion modeling applications such as NARAC, EPIcode, HotSpot, and ALOHA.
Preferred Requirements:
� Satisfactory completion of a Masters' degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, or a related science (e.g., Chemical Engineering) or a related technical field and 4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
� A working knowledge of the DOE Emergency Management Order 151.1D and associated guides is desirable.
� Basic professional level of knowledge and experience in multiple emergency management program areas.
� Must be highly organized and able to prioritize and schedule multiple activities.
� Must have demonstrated experience in technical writing and the ability to make oral presentations.
� Operational problem solving/decision-making experience.
� Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
� Works well in a team environment.
