Key Project Requirements:
• 10+ years of experience in electrical field oversight for HVDC, substation, or high-voltage transmission projects.
• Strong understanding of HVDC converter station electrical systems, including protection & control systems and high-voltage equipment installation.
• Experience ensuring contractor compliance with construction standards, jobsite policies, and safety programs.
• OSHA-10 required (OSHA-30 preferred).
Job Summary:
PIC Group is seeking an Electrical Field Representative to provide construction oversight for the 500kV HVDC Converter Station project in California. The Electrical Field Representative will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely completion of electrical construction activities, verifying compliance with jobsite policies, specifications, and safety protocols. This role involves coordination with contractors, reporting site activities, and participating in investigations related to electrical installations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee and coordinate the electrical construction activities to ensure alignment with project specifications and jobsite requirements.
• Provide daily written reports on electrical installation progress, challenges, and resolutions.
• Ensure contractor compliance with all construction standards, specifications, and site safety programs.
• Participate in investigations related to root cause analysis, engineering reviews, and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and field teams to troubleshoot electrical system installations.
• Ensure proper installation of HVDC-related electrical equipment, including transformers, protection & control systems, and valve halls.
• Conduct inspections, material testing, and safety control assessments to maintain quality and compliance.
• Assist with cost estimating, construction planning, scheduling, and equipment needs assessments.
Job Requirements:
• Strong understanding of HVDC converter station electrical systems.
• Experience with installation of high-voltage electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, and control systems.
• Ability to interpret and enforce construction and safety standards on a job site.
• Familiarity with electrical protections, control systems, and general electrical construction methods.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for correspondence, documentation, and reporting.
• OSHA-10 certification required (OSHA-30 preferred).
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift (up to 50 lbs).
• Work in an outdoor construction environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
Education / Experience:
• Engineering degree, technical certification, or equivalent field experience.
• 10+ years of electrical field oversight or construction experience on HVDC, substation, or power transmission projects.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $67-$77.
