We're recruiting for 2 electricians and 2 mechanics to work on tunnel boring machines on a large bridge-tunnel expansion project in Virginia. Hourly rate is open and negotiable for the right candidate, per diem, medical, dental and vision insurance provided. This is a W2 contract position through ersg that will go for about 6-7 months. Job descriptions are below, if you have experience on tunnel boring machines or comparable heavy industrial machinery, motors, controls, etc then we'd like to speak with you. TBM Electrician:
The TBM Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components on Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). They ensure the electrical infrastructure of the TBMs functions efficiently to support tunneling operations and adhere to safety standards.
Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
-Install and wire electrical components and systems on TBMs, including motors, sensors, control panels, and lighting systems.
-Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and project specifications during installation.
-Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to identify and resolve issues promptly.
-Repair or replace faulty electrical components, such as switches, relays, cables, and connectors.
-Follow strict safety protocols and procedures to prevent electrical hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
-Implement safety measures during installation, maintenance, and repair activities on TBMs.
-Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts replaced.
-Generate reports on electrical system status, maintenance schedules, and incidents.
-Coordinate with TBM mechanics, construction supervisors, engineers, and other team members to plan and schedule electrical maintenance activities.
-Communicate effectively with operators to understand electrical system performance issues and operational needs.
TBM Mechanic:
The TBM Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) used in tunnel construction projects. They perform maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues, and repair equipment to minimize downtime and ensure project timelines are met.
Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities
-Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on Tunnel Boring Machines according to manufacturer specifications.
-Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues affecting TBMs.
-Replace or repair faulty components, such as cutting tools, bearings, seals, and hydraulic systems.
-Conduct troubleshooting activities to identify the root cause of equipment malfunctions.
-Use diagnostic tools and equipment to analyze performance and operational data.
-Follow strict safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others.
-Implement safety measures during maintenance and repair activities on TBMs.
-Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts replaced.
-Generate reports on equipment status, maintenance schedules, and downtime incidents.
-Stay updated on advancements in TBM technology, maintenance techniques, and safety regulations.
-Provide training and guidance to junior mechanics or operators on TBM operation and maintenance practices.
