Archer Mechanical is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our Fabrication team. The CWI will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welds and fabrication work meets company and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).
- Review blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures for accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor welding processes and procedures to ensure proper execution and adherence to project requirements.
- Identify, document, and communicate non-conformities, defects, or discrepancies in welding or fabrication processes.
- Perform visual inspections and work with a third part NDT.
- Collaborate with the Fabrication team, engineers, and project managers to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain and organize inspection records, reports, and documentation in compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Stay updated on the latest welding techniques, codes, and certifications to ensure best practices are employed.
- Provide guidance and training to welders and fabrication team members on quality standards and welding techniques.
- Participate in quality assurance meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification through the American Welding Society (AWS) is required.
- Experience: Minimum of [2] years of welding inspection experience in a fabrication or industrial environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or associate degree in welding or related field preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of welding codes, standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX), and fabrication processes.
Skills Needed:
- Proficient in visual inspection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.
