Title: Construction Scheduler/Planner

Job Summary:
PIC Group has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Construction Scheduler/Planner to support the construction of a 162MW gas fired peaking plant. The Construction Scheduler reports directly to the Commissioning Manager and will be responsible for monitoring and documenting all construction progress, as well as identifying, tracking and assisting in resolution of construction issues/conflicts. The Construction Scheduler/Planner will manage and oversee all aspects of the schedule status to ensure compliance with construction contract specifications and other documents, regularly communicating any updates to the Commissioning Manager or external clients as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Effectively interface and participate in difficult conversations with entire project team members that include the asset Owner, General Contractor, and all Subcontractors and Suppliers.
• Build relationships with everyone on the project, both internal and external to the project.
• Collect, input, validate and analyze progress in the master schedule using P6.
• Assess that project objectives, both short and long term, are being met.
• Manage details discussed by numerous project stakeholders and when needed, include any schedule modifications.
• Produce standard schedule reports based on plant requirements.
• Sequence major work priorities into a logical schedule.
• Provide metrics of completion of scheduled and unscheduled work.
• Work with functional management to resolve scheduling issues or risks.
• Review contracts, documents, and drawings to determine work scope and schedule development.
• Ensure project Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) complies with functional requirements.
• Oversees and verifies the accuracy of critical paths across projects.
• Oversee the review and validation of overall project durations on multiple projects.
• Assist with managing warranty claims through EPC contractor and equipment suppliers.
• Assist with receiving materials or any other duties as assigned.
• Produce ad hoc reports upon request.
• Monitor schedule for changes in float, correct logic, potential problems, proper required coding, and budgeted resources.
• Monitor upstream activities that feed engineering, procurement and construction activities for any potential impacts and report these items to site management.
• Continually update schedule of work based on priorities and break-in work.
Job Requirements:
• Prior work experience in the construction industry, with a strong comprehension of how to properly manage a project schedule.
• Proficiency with Oracle Primavera 6 and Microsoft Project, well as MS Office, Adobe, Bluebeam, Synchro, Vico, and NetPoint.
• Proven capability with how to properly develop and build an effective project plan.
• Proficient in managing and understanding cost, manpower and equipment resource loaded schedules.
• Demonstrated skills in gathering, maintaining, reporting and analyzing schedule data.
• Must understand and adhere to all safety protocol for active construction sites.
• Proficient with understanding project risk management as well as the impact that change management can have on schedules.
• Capable of following all Quality Control & ISO / Lean protocol for construction projects.
• Extreme proficiency with effectively communicating with all levels of personnel involved with the project.
• Capable of learning about recent or new innovation & technology to improve project duration and completion.
Physical Requirements:
• Duties require walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, and lifting and when needed carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to use protective equipment correctly (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gloves, vests, etc.).
Education / Experience:
• HS Diploma required.
• 10+ years of Scheduling/Planning experience in heavy industrial construction or manufacturing (including power plants).
• Prior hands on experience with P6 required.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $55 - $65.
