[Planner] Nuclear Safety Analyst - ORNL - 8472

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Nuclear Safety Analyst opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Position Title: Nuclear Safety Analyst

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for reviewing processes, systems, and activities in nuclear/non-nuclear facilities, performing appropriate hazard and accident analysis, and ensuring the associated safety equipment is designed to protect the health and safety of the public and co-located workers
Perform hazard identification, hazard screening, hazard analysis and accident analysis of nuclear facilities and activities
Develop and document the safety function, functional performance requirements and performance criteria for engineered and administrative controls for reducing the frequency and/or consequences of accidents
Develop and support the development of related documents such as safety evaluations, safety design strategies, unreviewed safety question determinations and specialized technical reports and documentation
Meet with internal and external customers and their representatives, as needed
Evaluate the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and developments to ensure the most cost-effective program
Be able to perform radiological and toxicological consequence analysis
Be able to prepare safety basis documents, including Conceptual Safety Design Reports, Preliminary Safety Design Reports, Preliminary Documented Safety Analyses, Documented Safety Analyses and Technical Safety Requirements

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physical sciences, nuclear engineering technology, or a related field
2-10+ years of experience in nuclear safety analysis
Experience in the development and maintenance of safety basis documentation for DOE nuclear facilities (or NRC equivalents)
At least two years of experience working at a DOE nuclear facility or NRC-regulated reactor
Familiarity and experience working under 10 CFR 830 Subparts A and B and the USQ process
Experience in performing radiological and toxicological consequence analysis and familiarity with the application and use of DOE toolbox codes for atmospheric dispersion analysis is a plus
Technical skills in applying analytical approaches and techniques used in safety evaluations, interpreting and integrating results into safety basis documents, and oral/written communication of results
Candidates should have strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to obtain a Q clearance

Special Requirements:
HSPD-12 PIV badge: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge.
