Title:                   Mechanical Design Engineer – Gas Turbines

Job Summary:  
PIC Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer – Gas Turbines to support gas turbine projects in Lake Mary, FL. The Mechanical Design Engineer focuses on the design, specification, and procurement of heat exchange equipment and other auxiliary systems for gas turbine projects. The Mechanical Design Engineer will work closely with outside vendors to ensure that all equipment meets code, contract, and schedule requirements for large-scale power generation projects. This role requires a strong background in mechanical systems engineering, including heat exchangers, vessels, and auxiliary equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Interpret P&IDs and other technical materials to develop system interface requirements.
•    Prepare supporting calculations to ensure proper equipment sizing.
•    Develop inquiry and purchase specifications for mechanical equipment, including heat exchangers and vessels.
•    Provide technical recommendations for vendor selection and qualification.
•    Review vendor designs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, contracts, and internal specifications.
•    Ensure equipment arrangement and foundation interface information meets project requirements.
•    Analyze test results and ensure that equipment meets performance standards.
•    Develop standard drawings and specifications for mechanical systems.
•    Propose and implement design improvements to enhance system performance and reduce costs.
•    Adhere to project schedules and ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
•    Coordinate with vendors to ensure technical and schedule requirements are being met.
•    Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.
•    Integrate design requirements from the parent company and ensure they are incorporated into the system design.
•    Establish processes and procedures to optimize the use of resources while delivering high-quality design packages.
•    Provide regular status updates to management regarding progress and any challenges.
•    Implement corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve equipment quality.
•    Prepare correspondence with vendors and other engineering groups.

Job Requirements:
•    Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, preparing specifications, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes.
•    Strong experience in the procurement and design of heat exchangers and vessels.
•    Familiarity with ASME, CSA, and TEMA standards for mechanical equipment.
•    Ability to collaborate with vendors, customers, and cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
•    Experience in troubleshooting and field support for mechanical systems.
•    Excellent communication and project management skills.

Physical Requirements:
•    Ability to work in an office and industrial environment, occasionally requiring travel to vendor sites or project locations.
•    Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed for equipment inspections or on-site activities.

Education/Experience:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required; a Master’s Degree is desirable.
•    10+ years of technical experience, preferably with heat exchangers/vessels (e.g., Shell and Tube, Air-Cooled Exchangers) in an EPC or manufacturing environment.
•    Experience with heat transfer equipment design software (e.g., HTRI) and international business experience (Power Plant or Japan-related experience is a plus).
