Title:                         Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician
Position Type:          Direct Hire

Reports to:               Control Room Operator
Status:                      Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
PIC Group is hiring an experienced Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician for a 1050MW combined-cycle plant in Niles, MI. The O&M Technician assists in the start-up, operation, and shutdown of the plant's gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, and water treatment systems. In this role, the O&M Technician operates equipment from outside the control room, conducts routine plant inspections, monitors performance, and supports the Control Room Operator. The O&M Technician also plays a key role in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring plant systems run efficiently and safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Safely operate and monitor the boiler, gas & steam turbines, and balance of plant systems.
•    Start up and shut down equipment following plant procedures and Control Room Operator guidance.
•    Inspect equipment, monitor operating parameters, and adjust to maintain safe operations.
•    Report plant status to the Control Room Operator and assist in troubleshooting faulty equipment.
•    Conduct water sampling, basic water chemistry analysis, and ensure compliance with emissions standards.
•    Perform preventive maintenance on plant systems and assist maintenance technicians with corrective actions.
•    Safely handle hazardous chemicals, monitor chemical safety systems, and respond to spills according to emergency plans.
•    Participate in safety meetings and training, and lead plant safety practices when required.
•    Maintain accurate logs, ensure a clean work environment, and supervise vendors working on-site.
•    Assist in plant reliability tests, including turbine and boiler systems, and test fire and chemical safety equipment as needed.

Job Requirements:
•    Thorough knowledge of equipment isolation, tagging procedures, and plant safety protocols.
•    Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and correct issues quickly.
•    Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
•    Willingness to respond to emergency call-ins and work outside normal hours when needed.

Physical Requirements:
•    Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, handle hazardous materials, and wear safety gear.
•    Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and operating heavy machinery.
•    Work around high-voltage equipment and in confined spaces, with proper training and precautions.

Education / Experience:
•    High school diploma or GED required.
•    Hands-on experience with the operation of gas and steam turbines, boilers, and plant systems.
•    Familiarity with plant Process & Instrument Diagrams and electrical systems.
