External Job Description: HII Mechanical is hiring experienced Valve Techs to support operations with overhaul, fleet support, new construction, operators, and related components for our facility located in Newport News, VA.
Position will be responsible for the repair, overhaul and testing of valves (gate, globe, ball, etc.) and hydraulic components. Position is also responsible for the interpretation and compliance of engineering work instructions, drawings, and schematics. Previous mechanical experience with Navy/Coast Guard or commercial operations is required. Proficient understanding of main engines, tank pressurization tests and closeouts is also required.
Performs a variety of operations to assemble precision electromechanical products such as gyros and gear train mechanisms. Performs tasks such as drilling, reaming, burnishing, and tapping; uses precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specified tolerance.
Assembles, disassembles, repairs and reassembles precision assemblies and corrects malfunctions. May assemble and modify prototype precision units for engineering personnel. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Basic Qualifications: 2 years of related experience with High School diploma/GED and/or certification in assigned area preferred.
May be required to physically access tight, low or high spaces, involving climbing, kneeling, stooping, standing, etc. Depending on area assigned, the job may involve exposure to extreme weather/temperature and other environmental conditions encountered in manufacturing, including noise, fumes, chemicals, etc. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Navy/Coast Guard or commercial valve operations is preferred
