NAES Staffing Services is looking for O&M Managers to work in Bronx, NY on a 3-month contract position at a cogeneration plant. This position pays $65/hr plus per diem ($434 daily) and looking for someone to start ASAP. Please note, per the GSA website, the amount for per diem will be lowered for the months of Jan and Feb. GENERAL SUMMARY
The O&M Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations and overseeing the maintenance and repair of plant facilities and equipment. The O&M Manager directs the implementation of the Operating Plan and identifies those areas which may need improvement or further development. The O&M Manager assures that plant operating conditions are always kept within optimum limits.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Ensure that thermal and electrical outputs are maintained at maximum levels and efficiencies, as well as keeping average availability and reliability above minimum required for the project.
Report normal, abnormal or emergency plant conditions to the Plant Manager. Take necessary corrective action in accordance with established policy or at the direction of the Plant Manager.
Plan, oversee and perform the training of O&M personnel and maintain the plant Training Manual.
Assist Outside Supervisor with Pump Room maintenance.
Prepare required reports for the owner and/or utility as well as assure that all contract requirements are met and complied with.
Oversee the daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records as well assure that all data and calculations are accurate.
Maintain the plant Operations and Maintenance Manuals and assure that operating policies and procedures are kept up-to-date.
Ensure that the water chemistry program for the plant is properly implemented, including testing, inspections, and maintenance of water treatment program. Provide guidance to the Chemical Lab Technician in administering the chemistry program.
Complete other tasks as requested by the Plant Manager.
Assist with the location, screening and hiring of O&M personnel.
Plan and implement the plant's preventive and predictive maintenance program, including equipment failure records, and provide trend information to the Plant Manager.
Provide task lists and schedules for plant maintenance and contractor personnel for normal operating periods, planned outage periods, and forced outage situations.
Maintain the plant's Maintenance Manual and assure that vendor maintenance and repair manuals are properly filed and kept up-to-date.
Sustain the morale and motivation of O&M personnel and handle employee concerns as they arise.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The O&M Manager operates from established and well-known procedures, performing duties independently with only general direction given. Decisions are made within policy constraints. The O&M Manager encounters new and varied work situations, involving a high degree of complexity.
The O&M Manager must ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The O&M Manager must effectively communicate information to the Plant Manager, fellow supervisors, and subordinate operation and maintenance personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance, and provide suggestions for plant improvement. The O&M Manager must ensure duties are performed in such a way as to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.
